Talk about a parent’s wish come true!

In an amazing twist of fate, a woman claiming to be Jaycee Lee Dugard walked into a police station in Anticoh, Calif., on Wednesday, her step-father told ABC News.

Dugard was abducted 18 years ago at the age of 11. She was never found.

Based on conversations his wife has had with police, the FBI and the woman herself, now 29, Dugard’s stepdad Carl Probyn said the family is convinced Jaycee has finally been found.

“I had personally given up hope,” Probyn said. “I had just hoped for a recovery.”  Instead, he said, “I’ve actually won the lotto.”

A press conference is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET. Until then, authorities aren’t revealing more details. They have, however, confirmed that husband and wife couple, Phillip and Nancy Garrido, are in custody in connection with the case.

Contra Costa Sheriff’s Capt. Daniel Terry says Phillip Garrido is a registered sex offender who was paroled in 1999 after serving prison time for kidnapping and forcible rape.

Court records state the Garridos are in police custody in Concord, Calif. Both are charged with kidnapping to commit rape and bail was set at $1 million.

Jaycee’s case has been open since 1991. According to the Associated Press, police who covered the area where she was taken are “99 percent sure it’s her.”
